Coaching for Success

My name is Linda Rosen and I would like to introduce myself to you.

Growing up in a rural area on a large farm with a length of lakeshore in western Wisconsin provided many opportunities to learn responsibility and to participate in caring for animals and other farm work. My three siblings and I knew every animal on a first name basis. Hard work was always there, but we also enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, biking, ice skating, sledding, needle work, gardening, all the domestic arts and something that other farm kids did not do, travel.

My husband and I have raised three children, and now that they have graduated from college, married (the last one is getting married in July), and are gainfully employed J we have progressed to the empty nest stage in our lives. We have two young granddaughters that have simply stolen are hearts. I loved raising our children, for me being a mom is very rewarding and satisfying, having said that there is nothing like being a grandparent. I enjoy working with teachers, learning, cooking and experimenting with vegetarian recipes, sewing, hiking, camping, and travel. And of course, at this time in our lives, we have faced some of the challenges that come with aging parents including me becoming a caregiver to my mom.

My professional life has revolved around education the past thirty years. When my children were young I was a stay at home mom. I did do some tutoring and substitute teaching at that time. Once the children were all in school I began teaching full time. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics Secondary Education and Behavioral science with endorsements in Religion, and Elementary Education and a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I received the Alumni of the Year award from the high school that I attended and I received an Excellence in Teaching award from a national parochial school system.

In addition to teaching for twenty years I have worked with curriculum development, educational marketing, and teacher supervision. I also served on a national reading steering committee, and a national committee-writing curriculum guides.

I currently serve on the Wisconsin Board of Education and the Educational Marketing committee; both are for a parochial school system. For the past fourteen years I have been part of a team conducting an annual weeklong workshop for teachers at the university level. Ten of those years I served as a master teacher modeling effective practices with children in a classroom situation. Currently, as a co leader, I help with planning, presentations, and mentoring teachers.

I am looking forward to making the transitioning to coaching.
